What I've just noticed tonight about the difference in the Irish and English anthems is that England pledges allegiance to an actual person (of an entitled family no less who owns half their country) whereas the Irish anthem is about the nation, the community of people. It was listening to The flower of Scotland that made me realise. They're the same. It's about a nation, a community ❤❤❤
Without question, the best guitar riff ever!
Class!
he has a cousin named colm
Classic. Respect. ❤
They shouldn't have even been aloud sing god save the queen in croke Park! Absolute disgrace.
My first concert as a 14 year old in the Lilac Ballroom in Carndonagh, have seen Queen live twice with Freddie and Springsteen a few times….these boys are up there with them as far as memories go…cost me a small fortune in live concerts…but wouldn’t swap a minute….thanks lads….❤️
Long live Ireland 🇵🇰💖🇨🇮
❤❤❤❤❤🇨🇮❤❤❤❤❤ 🧨🔪🔥💥👊🏻🇬🇧🧨🔪🔥💥👊🏻
It takes a hell of a lot for me to cry, I even said to my mates before the game that I will hold myself together no problem, but when the Irish anthem started I broke down in tears, and do I regret it?? NOT 1 DAM BIT 😭🇮🇪🤘
🏴 🇮🇪 friends across the sea
The Irish supporters from the six counties and many from the 26 counties got a chance to sing about their English Queen, that's why it was so loud.
Got my first trip here in May watching Leinster v my home town Northampton, amazing stadium, amazing Irish supporters, going to be a privilege, thanks GAA

Sinne Fianna Fáil, atá faoi gheall ag Éirinn, Buíon dár slua thar toinn do ráinig chugainn, Faoi mhóid bheith saor, Seantír ár sinsear feasta, Ní fhágfar faoin tíorán ná faoin tráill. Anocht a théam sa bhearna bhaoil, Le gean ar Ghaeil, chun báis nó saoil, Le gunna-scréach faoi lámhach na bpiléar, Seo libh canaig' amhrán na bhFiann.
A lovely advert and a great recognition of Simon Geoghegan. A man who had no luck in his career and who was rarely allowed to show what he could really do. If he had been born 10 years later ...
Wonderful day in Croke Park
Jesse Collens in Tacoma Washington has C1 spinal injury from bicycle accident 15 yrs ago . He needs ventilator & 24 hr nurses . He CANNOT move & seeks female relationship not a caregiver.
Part of the reason why mass migration is being rejected People love their country
line judge was singing
I thought you could not benefit from a deliberate act same as heading the ball forward
HORSLIPS the band that built the Man who built America....That guy was an ex pat Irishman, to be sure! My 17th straight SOBER St Patrick's day....! BY choice! I occasionally DO think about those car bombs - ever have one?!! 1 pint glass, add Guinness, Bailey's , and drop a shot of Jamersons ( like a boiler maker). Then hoist that Glass, to be sure, and throw it all back!! Down the ( Molly) Hatchet ! Well I just wanted to say that my first exposure to Horslips was at my place of employment in March 1978 - Record Revolution in King of Prussia. We had ALIENS, DANCE HALL SWEET HEARTS, the TAIN, AND book of invasions. So on a suggestion I bought Aliens- "SURE THE BOY WAS GREEN." Now here it is St Patricks day 2024.... I was able to see on March 24, 1979, HORSLIPS open for UK at the Spectrum, PHILADELPHIA, PA. The concert was hosted by Philadelphia radio station WIOQ, 102 FM, who also recorded both bands on FM! The Horslips set was close to what ended up on Belfast Gigs Live. Still, I am sure [ HORSLIPS 3-24-1979 Philadelphia ] is out there, or...around here ! I have a cassette version. Anyway...Horslips best band in Ireland- THAT'S RIGHT, over Rory Gallager, Thin Lizzy, and even U2 would aquiess to that fact!
England could of put out 2 teams that day, and we still would of won. My greatest ever sporting memory was this game
Magic
How did these not make it Huge ? Great band
Lovving John Hayes
The colonisers had to idea what was coming their way that afternoon!
What a class act. The history of irish rugby is something special indeed 🏉 👏
Was that the first rock bag-piper or had it been snuck in before?
So much history, so much Croke Park, amazing Irish, lets fuve us a cheer!
England hadn't a hope.
This is the difference between rugby and football .
I wish international rugby league to be stronger Players like Carney make going to watch an Ireland or other minnow exciting to watch 💯
This was the first video I watched when I became paralyzed. I want to say thank you for sharing your story.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi ! I hope you’re doing well!!
@@treilly261 I am buddy,I hope you are doing great as well..
Funny how even in the Irish team you look, some sing one the rest sing the next. Strange but understandable
To hear the British anthem sung in Croke Park shows how low we've fallen; it's an insult to the men who were slaughtered in Croke Park. And then, the cowards sing A SOLDIER'S SONG in IRISH, so as not to offend anyone. It was written in English and it should be sung in English: SOLDIERS ARE WE, WHOSE LIVES ARE PLEDGED TO IRELAND, SOME HAVE COME FROM A LAND BEYOND THE WAVE, SWORN TO BE FREE, NO MORE OUR ANCIENT SIRELAND SHALL SHELTER THE DESPOT OR THE SLAVE, TONIGHT WE'LL MAN THE BEARNA BEOIL, IN ERIN'S CAUSE COME WOE OR WEAL, MID CANNON'S ROAR AND RIFLE'S PEAL, WE WILL CHANT A SOLDIER'S SONG. Haven't heard this sung in public since I was a child. "Ireland's Call" is another cowardly fucking disgrace. My family didn't found the IRB and FENIANS to see this shit happening.
I am Romanian and I am very amazed by the irish fans. Very impressive the amthem (but it is emtirely in English language) and I am eager to listen it before the games in 6 Nations. I like the anthem and I like rugby, also.
This one is for the Palestinian People. Blessed you are; you have been chosen to bear this sorrow, and we THE IRISH REPUBLIC walk with you. Every step, every tear.
3:14 Brian’s gulp!
The Northern Irish were certainly grateful they got to hear their national anthem that day.
Looking back at this in 2024. What a great team. The players… seeing Stringer between O’Connell and Donncha O'Callaghan. Seeing BOD and ROG. Those were the days!
is deeper as is
LOVE IRELAND
For a people that were apparently subjected by the British, they seem to have done a good job in coming and staying here.
Did any of you see "Me before You" ? 😢
Im scottish and remember watching this game with my papa i was really chocked up shed a tear total goosebumps
I didn't realise when Slough Feg covered this song that it was actually a cover, but the influence that this band had on Scalzi is extremely apparent. What a great tune
Big in Oz 🦘
Where they singing “My country ‘tis of thee” at the beginning? If not it has the same exact melody
I knew about The Carraig Dúm before I was born.
